Thanks so much for choosing Alexa Janell Photography to capture these precious moments in your life. My mission is to have fun, create an experience you'll always remember and capture beautiful, authentic photographs that will become treasures for you to cherish for many years to come!
This guide provides a few tips and some clarity to help prepare for your family session :)
What to Expect
Aside from finding the best lighting and locations, I'll be loosely guiding everyone, while documenting the genuine connections throughout our mini adventure!
Little ones can be unpredictable, so we'll be working with their energy as well, and going with the flow!
I will be there every step of the way, capturing everyone in their best light :)
What to Wear
Choosing outfits for a session can be fun for some and overwhelming for others. What I want you to keep in mind while choosing your outfits, is that this photography session is for YOU!
While I will provide some guidance and tips along the way, I want you to feel good in whatever you choose to wear. That is the most important thing to me!
When choosing outfits, everyone should feel comfortable. We'll be walking and sometimes sitting to get the best images, so keep that in mind when making your clothing decisions.
Use complementary colors as opposed to matching exact colors.
It's best to avoid logos and busy patterns that may clash with each other.
Dress in layers or bring multiple options, for a quick swap to create a variety of images.
I highly recommend laying everyone's outfits out, next to one another and seeing how they all look together!
Also, when choosing jewelry, less is more in my opinion. Simplicity is key, as we want to keep the focus on all of your lovely faces! A little bit goes a long way.
Lastly, stand in front of the mirror together and make sure everyone is happy with what they see :)
Props can also be fun and are welcome. Whether it be a favorite toy, a blanket and some pillows, some bubbles, or a kite..bring it along! I want you all to have a great time and I will take care of the rest.
